Angela Bassett Invites Hollywood Hotshots To The Special Screening of her Directorial Debut “Whitney”

The who’s who of Hollywood showed up to the Paley Center for Media on January 6 in Beverly Hills to cheer on Angela Bassett as she made her directorial debut at the screening of Lifetime’s “Whitney.”

The performers who showed their support included Angela’s husband Tony and Emmy award winning actor Courtney B. Vance, Yaya Da Costa, who stars in the title role of Whitney Houston in the made-for-TV movie, Arlen Escarpeta, who portrays Bobby Brown, Yolonda Ross who plays Robin Crawford, Suzanne Douglas who is cast as Cissy Houston and Deborah Cox, who performed Whitney’s vocals. Other chicsters in attendance included Smokey Robinson, Forest Whitaker, Blair Underwood, Anthony Anderson, Magic and Cookie Johnson, Berry Gordy and Chaka Khan.

A celebration followed the screening at the legendary Spago restaurant. The evening benefited the United Negro College Fund.
