Damon Wayans Jr. Joins New Line’s ‘How to Be Single’

“New Girl “ actor Damon Wayans Jr. is in negotiations New Line’s ensemble romantic comedy “How to Be Single.”

The cast includes Dakota Johnson, Leslie Mann, Dan Stevens, Rebel Wilson and Alison Brie. Christian Ditter is directing.

Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn penned the adaptation of Liz Tuccillo’s novel, with Dana Fox working on the latest draft. The story centers on a woman living in New York and searching for love.

Fox and John Rickard are producing. Michael Disco and Dave Neustadter are overseeing for New Line on “How to Be Single,” which begins production begins in April.

Wayans has spent the last two seasons on the Fox sitcom “New Girl.” It was recently announced that this year would be his last on the show.

Wayans and his “New Girl” co-star Jake Johnson saw their Fox comedy “Let’s Be Cops” over perform at last summer’s box office.

He is repped by WME and Mosaic. The news was first reported by the Hollywood Reporter.
