HIP HOP PIONEER ANDCOMMUNITY ACTIVIST RALPH McDANIELS DISCUSSES HEALTH AND HEALING AS QUEENS LIBRARY CELEBRATES: 8 DAYS OF NON-STOP HIP HOP

Legendary producer, director and host Ralph McDaniels, a.k.a  “Uncle Ralph”, will present a forum as part of Queens Library’s 8 Days of Non-Stop Hip Hop (May 2-9), the follow up to the 2014 hit program series to discuss, celebrate and preserve Queen’s music history.

Health, Healing and Hip Hop: A Forum and Showcase Hosted by “Uncle” Ralph McDaniels will be presented on May 4, 2015 at 4:00 pm at Queens Library’s Central Library, 89-11 Merrick Boulevard, Jamaica. Admission is free. Ralph McDaniels, a veteran journalistwith over 30 years in TV Broadcast and creator of the iconic television show Video Music Box, is known for his unselfish ability to help up and coming artists and music professionals and for his unwavering dedication to community activism, especially as an advocate for youth. The forum is intended to raise awareness about the challenges of caring for a family member with a debilitating or life-threatening illness and will feature M.K. Asante, author of Buck: A Memoir, health professionals, artists and others. Representatives from health care and advocacy organizations will offer information and resources about caregiver support throughout the event. A showcase featuring hip hop artists will follow the discussion. The event is being presented in collaboration with The BulLion Foundation.
