ABC Renews Steve Harvey’s ‘Celebrity Family Feud’ for Season 2

Marianne Zumberge/Variety:

ABC has ordered a second season of Steve Harvey ’s “Celebrity Family Feud.”

The network made the announcement Saturday, ahead of ABC’s panels at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, Calif.

The pickup comes as no surprise, as “Celebrity Family Feud” ranked as the highest-rated new series last summer and ABC’s top summer show, averaging 9.4 million total viewers, according to Nielsen’s “live plus seven” ratings.

The game show pits celebrities and their families against each other in a contest to name the most popular responses to a survey-type question posed to 100 people.

“Celebrity Family Feud proved to be a hit with audiences and a natural extension of what is one of FremantleMedia’s strongest television properties, Family Feud. It’s a fun show to make, it’s a fun show to watch, and with the magic of Steve Harvey and our great partners at ABC, we couldn’t be more excited to be returning for another season,” said Jennifer Mullin, co-CEO of FremantleMedia North America, which produces the show.

Recently, Harvey found himself at the center of a social media roast for crowning the wrong winner at December’s Miss Universe pageant, though he is still on of the most popular and sought-after hosts, likely credited for much of “Celebrity Family Feud’s” success.

Production on Season 2 of “Celebrity Family Feud” begins this March in Los Angeles.
