Prince fans expressed their grief on Thursday by flocking to iTunes. The influential pop icon once again topped the charts after news broke that he had been found dead at the age of 57.

By late afternoon, the top eight best-selling songs were all by Prince and eight of the top ten best-selling albums were from the singer. “The Very Best of Prince” was the top-selling album, while “Purple Rain “ headed up the list of most popular songs.

This has now become the norm in a streaming music world. After Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse and David Bowie died, their work also dominated sales charts on the Apple music service.

Prince’s body was found Thursday morning at his Paisley Park home recording studio in Chanhassen, Minn. First responders were unable to revive Prince after attempting CPR and he was pronounced deceased at 10:07 a.m. A cause of death has not been given.

Over the course of his career, Prince sold more than 100 million records and starred in the hit film, “Purple Rain.” Other best-selling songs on iTunes included “Little Red Corvette,” “When Doves Cry,” “Kiss” and “Let’s Go Crazy.”

Prince’s top-selling albums on the Apple music service include the “Purple Rain” soundtrack, “The Hits/B-Sides,” “1999” and “Sign O’ the Times.”
