Blacknoir.nyc Goes to the 46th NAACP Image Awards With Chevrolet

Chevrolet Media Brunch with Spike Lee
As usual, traveling to the NAACP Image Awards with Chevrolet proved to be an exciting and fabulous non-stop whirlwind weekend. One of the highlights of the exquisite experience was the Chevy Media Brunch. With Jocelyn K. Allen, General Motors Director, Regional Grassroots and Diversity Communications, Director, Diversity Marketing and Communications Center of Excellence – General Motors, as Host and Moderator, the brunch featured a Conversation with Spike Lee, who received a Lifetime Achievement Image Award that evening, and whose advertising agency, Spike DDB, recently produced a commercial for Chevrolet, featuring teenage baseball phenom Mone Davis, as well as enlightenment on exterior lighting on all new vehicles, including a bright red 2015 Corvette by Martin J. Davis, Design Manager, Exterior Lighting and North American Exterior Design.

That evening, the Awards ceremony did not disappoint. “Empire’s” Taraji P. Henson beat out high-powered talent like Beyonce’ and Shonda Rhimes for Entertainer of the Year, which was presented by Oprah Winfrey. Superstar Will Smith presented the Best Actor Award to David Oyelowo for his portrayal of Martin Luther King Jr. in “Selma,” and “Selma” also won Best Picture. One of my greatest moments was seeing my dear friend Khandi Alexander, who picked up the Best Supporting Actress Award for Mama Pope in “Scandal.” The magnificent fun continued at the After Glow with a performance by the legendary Chaka Khan.
