Bill Cosby Defense Effort Accelerates with Statements from Daughter, Wife

Just one day after Camille Cosby released a statement in support of her husband, Bill Cosby, the youngest of the couple’s four daughters issued a statement to “Access Hollywood” addressing the recent storm of sexual assault allegations levied against her father.

“He is the FATHER you thought you knew. The Cosby Show was my today’s TV reality show. Thank you. That’s all I would like to say :),” the statement from Evin Cosby reads.

Cosby also took to her Facebook page to voice her strong opinion on rape, following the list of accusations against the comedian. The statements from family members after weeks of silence are likely a sign that Cosby’s legal and PR teams are attempting to mount a defense to the disturbing accusations that have snowballed since early November against the entertainer.

“Rape is a serious allegation and it is supposed to be taken VERY seriously but so is falsely accusing someone,” Evin Cosby’s post reads. “When someone rapes a person they go to prison. THAT should also happen to the person that has wrongfully accused an innocent victim. They are not ONLY destroying innocent people’s life they are ALSO making it hard for the MEN and Women to find justice when they have been raped.”

Cosby also questioned the validity of the alleged victims’ stories of the supposed incidents while posting assorted comments surrounding the highly-publicized story.

“Drugged- you can remember the whole damn day but you were drugged? Just sayin. Memory- you can remember you looked at (allegedly) each other, people were starring allegedly remembering your home address allegedly the name you called him allegedly but you were allegedly drugged,” she wrote.

She also expressed her gratitude for the support the family has received.

“I would like to thank EVERYONE that has been sharing, voicing and putting their beautiful positive energy out there for me and my family. There will always be jealous, vengeful and crazy people out there to break anyone down. Every day we wake up and appreciate the love and support from everyone. There’s more positive in life then we think. It’s the BS that can be overwhelming. We keep fighting each day. The challenges in life can only make us stronger.”

The drumbeat of allegations against Cosby has taken a heavy toll on his career, costing him a sitcom development deal with NBC and a comedy special that had been set to air on Netflix last month. Perhaps most significantly, the lurid allegations of drugging and rape going back decades from at least two dozen women has forever tarnished the 77-year-old entertainer’s once-wholesome image.
