The New – York Historical Society and the Center for Black Literature at Medgar Evers College hosted a photography exhibition opening honoring the fiftieth anniversary of the protest that changed the course of civil rights in America. On view from January 16 through April 19, 2015, the exhibition Freedom Journey 1965: Photographs of the Selma to Montgomery March by Stephen Somerstein features forty-six black and white and color photographs, which document the quest for equality and social justice over the five-day march. Harry Belafonte delivered remarks.
