The Sole 100% Black Owned Cable Network Announces 2022 Programming
Impact, the largest Black owned and operated TV network in America, founded in 2011 by Bishop Wayne T. Jackson, is expanding its programming in 2022. The faith based network will now include family friendly/ uplifting/ feel good programming, along with sports.
Impact is in pre-production on its’ first of three green-lit shows Behind the Grind, Stars and Champions and Soul Food.
The first show in production is Behind the Grind starring Fredro Starr. While the network will announce the host of Soul Food shortly, as executives are currently negotiating the prospective host’s deal, pre-production of Stars and Champions will start in mid-October, with plans for Dan Raphael to return as host if his schedule permits.
Impact, which reaches 93 million homes, is the only truly privately held Black owned network in the country and is the current leader in the faith based space. However, Bishop Jackson believes there is a void missing in mainstream television of family friendly, uplifting and wholesome programming. No shows really exist that combine family values with social awareness and faith like shows such as Family Matters, A Different World, Sister to Sister, talk shows like Montel Williams, or holiday films like The Preacher’s Wife. These programs showcased family values that aligned with the faith that God has instilled in all of us. The Bishop wants the family unit to recognize the beauty in positivity and love, with programming which spreads a message of responsibility and kindness. His mission is to express all of this through expanding the network’s programming. This will also draw filmmakers and other content creators who have a mission to uplift to Impact.
Pilot season is set to launch Saturday, Nov 27, 2021 from 4pm to 7pm as a joint venture with the SMH production group, which will program the first wave of shows. Sporting events will return in December in the 10:30pm to 12:30 am time slot. Impact Network is available on Basic Cable throughout the United States and the Bahamas. Check your local listings.
